Questions
What is HLS, and do I need it?
HLS splits a video into small pieces with a playlist, so it streams smoothly from any web server and switches quality to suit each viewer's connection. If you host videos on your own site, it's the format to use. If you just want a file that plays everywhere, choose MP4.
Do my videos get uploaded anywhere?
Only to servers you add yourself, in Destinations. Encodia converts on your Mac and never sends your videos or their details to us.
Is Pro a subscription?
No. Encodia Pro is a single purchase. To use it on another Mac, or after reinstalling, click Restore Purchases in Upgrade to Pro.
Which Macs does Encodia run on?
Any Mac with macOS 14 Sonoma or later, Apple silicon or Intel.
Can I upload to Cloudflare R2 or Amazon S3?
Not yet. Encodia uploads over FTP, FTPS and SFTP today. If S3-compatible storage would help you, tell us.
